Elizabeth Taylor released from hospital after undergoing surgery

Hollywood legend Dame Elizabeth Taylor has been released from a Los Angeles hospital after undergoing surgery.

Taylor, 77, had been admitted to a medical centre near her home in Beverly Hills on July 13, with reports claiming that she was emotionally drained following the death of her long-term pal Michael Jackson.

Her spokesperson subsequently scotched those reports, insisting that she was there for a minor surgery.

“She is in for standard tests and a minor, though painful, surgical procedure. That’s it. No drama, no shrieking, no sedation required. Nobody on her staff is worried. Period,” the Daily Star quoted the representative as saying.

The ‘Taming of the Shrew’ star, who was in the hospital for five days, returned home to continue her recuperation.

“I’m home from the hospital sore, but intact. Of course I’m still grieving for Michael... I always will,” she wrote on her Twitter.com blog.

“I’ve had many tragedies in my life, but I guess they have all taught me something. I have to look at it that way,” she added.
