Indian Eves Skipper Jhulan Goswami Regain No. 1 Position

Indian women’s cricket team captain Jhulan Goswami climbed up two places to regain the No. 1 spot in the bowling in the latest ICC ODI Rankings issued on Monday (23rd March). She got a total of 713 points in the ranking. Jhulan, was the top-ranked bowler when the women’s rankings were launched last year in October. Since then she has been overtaken by England’s Isa Guha and Shelley Nitschke of Australia.

In the batting list, former Indian captain Mithali Raj occupies the second spot with a total of 757 points. Englishwoman Claire Taylor, who finished as the leading batter at the World Cup with 324 runs, has retained the top spot with 816 points.

Other Indian bowlers Rumeli Dhar and Amita Sharma have also made upward movement. Dhar, who took 10 wickets in the World Cup, has jumped two places to sixth. Sharma has lifted one place to share the 16th spot with South Africa's Ashlyn Kilowan. In batting another Indian woman Anjum Chopra has returned to the top 20 in 18th place. Chopra finished the tournament with 164 runs.
